Rivian R3 & R3X Overview

Rivian just introduced two new models to the automotive world. Not only did they unveil the highly anticipated R2 SUV, but they also pulled out the smaller R3 and R3X models from their magic hat.

They say, “Hey, we know you wanted the big one, but how about these cute little siblings too?”

Rivian R3 and R3X share a platform similar to its R2 models. The latter is more significant than either of those two models.

However, unlike the large R2 model, it has a 5-inch-smaller wheelbase. Positioned as entry-level options, they are slated for production in the upcoming years, potentially as 2027 models.

Rivian R3 Design & Aesthetic

The Rivian R3 design has mostly stayed the same; as usual, it has a sleek exterior. But the exciting part is its rear end. It’s shorter than a goldfish’s attention span. Seriously, if you blink, you might miss it. And get this—the rear hatch?

Not only does it pop open with the press of a button, but it’s got a full-width taillight that’s brighter than your future.

A little section for the rear glass opens separately. In short, the Rivian R3 isn’t just an electric SUV; it’s a lifestyle choice. One that says, ‘I care about the planet, but I also want to look damn good doing it.'”

R3 Powertrain

The Rivian R3 is the cooler, slightly beefed-up sibling of the R2.

Now, regarding what’s under the hood or the battery pack, it’s like picking toppings for your pizza. You’ve got options. Picture this: you’re cruising with an estimated range of over 300 miles.

That’s enough juice to make even your phone jealous. And get this: charging from 10 to 80 percent takes less time than deciding what to watch on Netflix – under 30 minutes. Say goodbye to those marathon charging sessions.

Now, here’s where it gets fun. You can choose your powertrain like you choose your superhero alter ego. Want to feel like you’re driving a sports car? Go for the single electric motor powering the rear wheels.

Are you feeling adventurous? Opt for the dual motors for all-wheel drive. If you’re off-road, there’s the R3X with a three-motor setup, ready to tackle the wilder side of life.

Rivian R3X Design Aesthetics

The R3X is R3’s big brother but with much more muscle. It’s got the powerful tri-motor setup from Rivian’s top dog, the R2. Plus, it’s beefed up with wider wheels and tires and sits a bit higher off the ground than the regular R3.

The R3X gets an excellent teal paint job with striking orange touches on the side mirrors and front tow hooks. They’re also equipped with rugged tread and ready to tackle any terrain. And those wheels give off serious ’80s rally car vibes.

Rivian R3X Interior

Inside, those fancy ribbed seats give off major Italian vibes. There’s a huge glass roof that makes it feel like you’re riding in the open air.

Plus, like in the regular R3, the front and back seats can fold completely flat—perfect for turning your car into a cozy sleeping spot!

Rivian R3 & R3X Price

Now, about the price tags. We’re still waiting to hear how much the 2027 Rivian R3 or R3X will cost, but one thing’s for sure: they’ll be cheaper than the big R2 model.

I wouldn’t be shocked if the R3 starts at around $35K to $40K, and the R3X goes for somewhere between $45K and $55K. They won’t break the bank, but they aren’t exactly giving them away, either!
