The 2025 Infiniti QX80: Redefining Luxury SUV Excellence

A little over twenty years ago, Infiniti introduced a new flagship luxury, three-row, body-on-frame SUV to America called the QX56.

At that time, the QX56 was essentially a fuzzy-up version of the Nissan Pathfinder and Armada. About a decade ago, Infinity renamed the QX56 and the QX80.

It’s been about 15 years since you’ve seen an all-new version of this flagship luxury barge. It has all-new designs on the outside and new body-on-frame construction underneath and under the hood.

It also has a new turbocharged V6 with more horsepower and torque. Now, let’s delve into more details of this fully redesigned QX80.

2025 Infiniti QX80 Powertrain

The current generation of Infiniti QX80 is the last three-row Japanese big SUV with the V8 engine. Unfortunately, the V8 has been replaced for the new 2025, and that’s because many companies are downsizing the engine.

Furthermore, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 has a new 3.5-litre fuel injection, twin-turbocharged V6. The VR engine family also underpins something like Nissan or the Infinity Red Sports.

The engine has been boarded out by half a litre, and it’s a twin-turbo and direct injection. Infinity reported that the engine delivers 450 horsepower, which is 50HP more compared to the previous 5.6-litre V8. It generates 550 pound-feet of torque, which is about 102 more pound-feet of torque.

Even though it’s a small engine with much nearer the top-of-the-class power, the only thing that has more HP and torque versus this is the Jeep Grand Wagoner with the twin-turbocharged Hurricane straight six engines.

It offers a 9-speed automatic transmission and two more gears compared to the previous generation model. Infinity wasn’t ready to talk about fuel economy figures yet, but they should have 20% more MPG than the old V8.

This engine is not electrified, so it’s not a hybrid or mild hybrid. The company wasn’t ready to discuss an optional powertrain, so this will be the only powertrain launched.

The Infinity QX80 has a big body on the frame and can tow a maximum of 8500 LB, similar to the previous generation. Infinity was not ready to talk about its curb weight. However, the old one was over 6000 lb.

So, this new model might be the same weight as the old one, if not more in curb weight.

Design

If you have seen the QX monogram, the concept car they showed almost two years ago, Infinity took many styling cues from that concept and turned it into a real-life production car.

2025 Infiniti QX80 has a lot of presence in person. It will launch in four trims: Base, Pure, luxury sensory, and Autograph.

It has an enlarged double-arch grill and an illuminated 3D animated Infinity logo. It has been slightly improvised. When you approach the vehicles, a welcome lightning sequence goes into the headlights.

It has full LED design headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED turn signal lights, although they’re not sequential when they are on. It has a low and high beam of LEDs.

Moving over to the side profile, this still rides on body-on-frame construction. The company says the torsional rigidity is about 56% because it is a new frame. It has an all-new independent suspension both at the front and rear end.

Autograph trims come with adaptive suspension and the first-ever air suspension. So, this car can raise itself as much as 2.4 inches in offroad mode and lower to 2.8 inches in access mode.

At the rear end, it looks like a QX60 with a full-length LED taillight design and LED turn signals. The taillight module has 300 LEDs, which is standard across the board. This also creates standout lighting effects with the 4/4 all-wheel drive batch on the back.

The rear bumper has a unique design, including no visible exhaust tips. It has an integrated parking sensor. The Trim model can carry up to 8500 lbs.

This vehicle’s cargo capacity is slightly more significant from the outside. Infinity says they were able to repackage the interior to create more space.

They also claimed that the space behind the third row is 30% larger than the older model. That would give it around 21 cubic feet of storage space, more than the previous generation’s.

If you fold down the third-row seat, which is power folding, it’ll expand the cargo space to around 57 cubic feet, and that’s again 20% more.

2025 Infiniti QX80 Interior

This is where Infinity pours the big bucks. If you remember the old model, it was incredibly dated because it was dated 20 years ago in terms of when it was designed.

Inside the 2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph trim, upgraded semi-line leather is used. The door panels have high-quality leather stitching along the top portion. There’s a beautiful matte-finished wood trim with the actual metal pieces. Widow control comes with the latest design and new switch gears.

It has a 24-speaker reference premier sound system, a significant upgrade from the older Bose Performance series. A speaker is also at the headrest.

Infinity stated that they collaborated with Panasonic and Clips to develop one of the best-sounding speakers in the industry.

The seats are heated and ventilated, which is standard on the luxury trims and up.

At the same time, Sensory and Autograph trims get the massaging seats with three different levels. And this is the first time we get the massaging seats on the QX80.

The Infinity upgraded the interiors; now, every model has two 14.3-inch displays. It also has a Google Android operating system and the Google Play Store, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Below, it has a separate 9-inch touchscreen with a heads-up display featuring the climate control functions.

Added Features:

  • ProPILOT Assist 2.1 driver assist technology.
  • Standard with Google built-in to ensure your in-car system is always getting smarter
  • Remote climate control technology
  • INFINITI Dash Cam Recorder and remote interior camera functionality
  • Walk Away Status alerts drivers if doors or windows are left open

Many people use Infinity as a family car, and this is where Infinity has added space because of the better packaging for this all-new third generation.

The autograph trim only comes with Captain’s chairs, so this model here will seat up to seven people if you guys step down to the sensory.

Below trim, Infinity offers a choice between Captain’s chairs or a bench. This one only comes with Captain’s chairs because these seats are also massaged.

The massage function carries over from the front into the back seat. Only the Lincoln Navigator offers a massaging second row.

These are also heated and ventilated. You’ll get the heated and ventilated second row if you go for the sensory trim.

The other trims have a heated second row and not the cooled function.

Infinity says this model will have more legroom Space than the previous generation.

Suppose you guys plan to use this as a family car. In that case, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is one of the roomiest in this significant truck-based, three-row luxury SUV segment.

With just under 13,000 sales of the previous generation QX80 in America in 2023, this vehicle is an integral part of the Infiniti lineup.

Sales were up compared to 2022, so we’re finally looking at the fully redesigned third generation.

Infiniti has pulled out all the stops here, finally giving us a modern three-row body-on-frame SUV that can compete with the best in America, Europe, and the other Japanese markets.

2025 Infiniti QX80 Price & Availability

Infiniti did an excellent job of carrying that concept car into a production card. If you guys are looking at your hand, this vehicle will be going on sale at your local Infinity dealerships this summer, so you will probably only have to wait about 3 to 4 months.

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 starts at $84,445 and goes up to $112,590, depending on the trim and options.

  • Pure – $84,445
  • Luxe – $91,545
  • Sensory – $102,640
  • Autograph – $112,590

We will have the final details once this car arrives at your local Infinity dealership.
